Vanwege de vele “man made” storing, is een storingsvrije ontvangst binnenshuis vaak slecht.

Album AM is a low power medium wave (LPAM) radio station operating on a frequency of 846 kHz (355 m).

The power is a mere 25 W (100 W p.e.p.), comparable to an old-fashioned twilight lamp when there were no energy-saving and LED lamps.

Noise-free reception within the Nijmegen, Den Bosch and Eindhoven triangle is possible on a good car radio. Due to the many “man made” interference, interference-free reception indoors is often poor. By rotating the radio and testing it in various locations, the reception is much better. The reception quality near a window, on the windowsill in the right direction, ensures the best reception.

Album AM is set up as a non-profit radio station (hobbies by definition cost money) and only broadcasts a “music only” format. Regular testing or maintenance is carried out. There is no legal broadcasting obligation so sometimes only a carrier wave or a test tone can be heard. This hobby mainly concerns the technology including sound processing (compression/limiting), the antenna and transmitter.

Have fun listening, Renรฉ (PE0RL).

P.S. The radio amateur virus was already present 55 years ago, witness this photo from 1968 where at the age of 10 I built an AM radio with a Philips EE1050b electronics experiment box ๐Ÿ™‚ .
